demo day at Crafts 4 U 2 do

This is one of my samples from a Crafters Companion demo day I did at the above shop on Saturday 28th March 

I had a great  day there and several friends came to see me - so that was lovely .

Anyway I made this card to show that you can mix die cut flowers with pre- made flowers as  the shop is home to Sweet Lilac Flowers.

I cut an aperture with a blossom die from the new essentials range from CC into some coredinations card stock then ran it through the distress texture folder. The corners were die cut from the darker colour and the flowers were made  by using  both sets of the new flower essential dies and just mixing them up.  I took some white sweet lilac flowers and used some victorian velvet DI ink on them to tone them with the card.

Christening card

Well we have had a busy 2 weeks since my daughter arrived for a visit she went home on Thursday and I got up at 3.15 am to take her to the airport but she kindly left her cold germs with me!

Whilst she was home we had young Oliver's christening so my sister and her hubby came up from London so it was lovely to have all the family together.

I thought I would share the card I made for him.

I don't know the make of the embossing folder but I used pearlised  card and brushed with stonewash adirondak ink.  the Church and bunting dies are from Crafters companion and the crosses are spellbinders.   I cut out the church then I drew around it on some more card, cut it out then I coloured the top part in dark grey and the bottom in yellow so that there was a "light" behind the windows  and the roof  had darker ridges

I used the letterbox set to stamp the bunting  .  I have a little on you stamp I have no idea where it came from as I have had it years.  the hristening and ay are from a set that came with a set of large letters from Aly Higginbottom and the C and D are also from the letterbox set

card for Grumpy

Just chilling with my daughter and she had some admin stuff to do so we got out the lap top so whilst it was fired up I thought I would share the card I have made for Grumpy's birthday that's coming up on Sunday.

He has no idea how to get on line so I am safe  ha ha ha

We do go to Fleetwood quite often and when the wee folk came out I just knew that the couple on the bench was Grumpy and me!!! So this is my homage to Fleetwood and us  - for those of you who don't know there is a burnt out light house out to sea - hence the blob in the middle (my badly drawn version of it )

 Here's the real thing.

After reading Barbara Gray's blog the other day I decided on the sky and the words - what to say that was the thing! so eventually just decided on this.  I have several Claritystamp boats but none that were just right for the picture I had in mind so this is one I have as part of a Hobby art set from a long time ago.  I hand drew the promenade railing.

Anything but a card

Good Morning here we are again ! I cannot believe we are in March already!

I have lots going on at the moment with a day of demoing yesterday and another two days this month and my monthly workshop so its all go and I am trying desperately to get in front as my daughter is flying home for a visit on the 13th - just in time for Mothers day, grumpy's birthday and young Oliver's Christening for which my sister and hubby are coming up from London and I haven't seen her for yonks either.

Well we had some fab entries last month and I just cannot wait to see what folks come up with this month - what will we see I wonder. The dt have come up with some magnificent pieces with a wide variety of projects - it's been great fun seeing them and I am looking forward to reading all about how they achieved them - after watching Barbara of course!

So here is my piece

I usually have something on the go besides my paper crafting and I do like to do cross stitch but I also like something that I can do just sat in a deck chair or a sea side bench as when I go out with Grumpy we do a lot of sitting about and I get bored easily. So embroidery is a little easier to do than cross stitch as I don't have a paper chart blowing away in the breeze!

Way back in 2013 I finished a cushion that I had done from a kit and thought I would like to have a go at designing my own.  I used several different distress inks on scraps of material to see which would be the best to see and then to ensure that they washed out properly afterwards.  In the end I used frayed burlap . 

I did make a start and it has been in the car for quite some time untouched and unloved because last summer I was busy knitting for my soon to be young grandson - something else I can do sat in a chair lol but then  when this month's theme came up I thought it was the perfect opportunity to finish it off 

I marked out a square with a ruler and a pencil that writes on fabric ( I had one of these in my other crafty stash - I used to do a lot of dressmaking lol) I then added the stamping.  Its very simple really and I just used simple stitches like whipped running stitch, backstitch, chain stitch an satin stitch on the leaves.

On the big Leafy twirls  in the middle I used a couple of colours on the leaves to give them a bit of light and shade, although you can't really see it in the picture.

Now it is finished I have nothing on the go that I can do without loads of stuff - so I am TRYING to crochet now  I have made a little hat for my first attempt but I am now trying to do a little top for young Oliver but it is not growing very quickly - good job I am doing a bigger size lol
