Clarity Homework

Hi everyone its Friday its 5 to 5 its crackerjack!

Sorry to disappoint - its actually 1.15 and after a morning of shopping I thought I would just take 10 minutes to have a spot of lunch and post this blog before I put my nurses hat on, remove hubby's bandages and bathe his legs before we go to the leg clinic for clean dressings.

So tomorrow is the last chance to get your entries into the Claritystamp challenge blog  so if you haven't got your entry in yet for a chance of winning a £50 voucher get in quick.  This month's theme is animals and we have had some great entries.  Do not ever ever think you are not good enough because you are (and anyway the winner is picked by a random number generator) so every entry has an equal chance of winning.

Anyway I digress this weekend sees the lovely Barbara Gray work her magic on the tellybox.  I won't be able to watch live on Saturday as this lucky lady is off to do a Clarity workshop with the lovely Maria Simms so my Sky+ box is set for Saturday and Sunday and I shall sit down on Saturday evening and watch the classroom - if I am not crafted out I may play along as I got the jigsaw stamp but sadly not had time to play with it :(.
So here are a couple of cards that I have sent in as homework - if they get shown

This first card uses the trellis stencil and I also used a wide tooth plastic comb to draw lines in the paint . overstamped with both sizes of the leafy swirl and I used a spellbinder die to cut out part of another gelli print to make the flower

.
I had been doing some gelli prints using pearly white, silver and black and I had a very messing plate at the end so I used some double sided sticky to "save" it and so here I have used it up I stuck it paint side up on some silver mirri card added talc to make it smooth and then stamped with black and clear embossing powder.  Mounted it all onto a black 8 x 8 that I had previously embossed with the leafy swirl and silver embossed

Well that's all for now folks - this post took a little longer than expected so hubby's  legs are now free and he is in the shower!

Have a great weekend everyone - looking forward to tomoz.

More atc's

Morning all

A few more tags today.  These are the ones I made at the craft club last week - just some simple ones. I must admit I do like making these I am in another club where we have a theme so sometimes that is quite hard but in this club I can do whatever takes my fancy!

This blue one's background is part of an Indigoblu stamp and I used Cobalt blue archival ink. I also stamped the Clarity fiddle with the same in and then used a blending tool to add some denim adriondak for colour.

I had fun with this one.  the splats are part of the same indoblu stamp as above but I have cut the stamp so that I have the ledger paper pattern on one stamp and then the splodges were at one edge so I cut them off and chopped them into two parts as this allows a more random pattern to be stamped.  I made 6 of these and none are the same!. I used black archival then I added mustard seed, forest moss and a touch of black soot distress inks around the edges.\

This lady is a stamp on a free plate from creative stamping magazine last year.  It had not been in print very long and the stamps were very good I have since noticed that the stamps don't seem to be quite as good as they were at the beginning and as a result I do not always buy mag now! Anyway I digress I stamped her in sepia archival ink and added a tiny berry corner Claritystamp.  Oh damn I shouldn't have used archival as I only have promarkers with me to colour her in .  We colour her in with promarkers I did but didn't put down loads of colour ...phew got away with it.  I inked with antique linen, forest moss and a touch of vintage photo.

Today's workshop

Morning all - its that time of the month and so today I will be running a workshop over at the Craft Range

The class is fully booked for today - so I reckon I must be doing something right lol
Here are the two cards my ladies will be playing with today

Stamps used are Kaiser craft - Just believe and Bird cage and the grasses are from Hope blooms by Lindsay Mason - which we also used last month.

Methinks its going to be mayhem - what a fun filled morning we will have !!

I wonder how many will know how to make the flower?- could get sticky.

Sapphire Wedding Anniversary

A commission for a Sapphire Wedding Anniversary
A simple card I cut out an aperture using the largest die in the set and then embossed wit the trellis and heart folder. Matted and layered onto Navy and then silver mirri card.  The sentiment is computer generated and then cut out with a smaller die.  The leaves are a cheery Lynn die and the little flowers started life as white paper flowers:......

I inked them up with a bit of Denim then versamark and some sparkly embossing powder and some blingy gems for the centres

Grungy Tags

When I went to the Art Stamps Wales show in Wrexham the other week, I joined a group called UK stampers Network they run several little groups and I joined the ATC group and the tags group. So since I joined I have had lots of happy post !
so following on from yesterdays post I decided to make some tags to send out in this group:
Again I used up some scraps of my Tim Holtz pad and on some of them I added a dragon fly stamp from Claritystamp .  The back has to say to and from and fortunately I have two tiny stamps that are now permanently stuck to one of my small Clarity mounts ready for use.  For the tag group you basically send out 4 tags to someone on the list, they take one out, replace with one of their own and eventually it comes back to you with 4 tags that are someone else's work for you to use as you wish.  I quite like it and its a way of using up bits and also practising stuff lol x
I just inked up the back and then I added some little die cuts with the to and from on and thats it .

I guess I will be blogging what else I do in this group.

Happy Birthday to my eldest girl

Yesterday was the turn of my Eldest daughter to have her birthday so today I can share the card I made for her. As she lives not too far away we were able to get together with her husband and my grandson and we went for a lovely meal to celebrate her birthday and my grandson becoming a teenager the day before. Feeling old xx

So here is the card - totally different for me so would love to know what you think?

I saw a studio 490 blog post and whilst this is totally totally different it set me off down this path.  I started with the flowers.  I have some little sketchy flower stamps that I got from the stamp man ages ago. Now the last time I tried to use the modelling film from studio 490 it was a disaster and my efforts went in the bin but I thought I would give it a go .  I got out my stash of Tim Holtz paper - I have used bits that I had left over from the hidden attic pad (I think).  I stamped out the big and small flower three times in black archival. I did the same with the butterfly.  I stuck these onto the modelling film with cosmic shimmer and left to dry well.  I cut them out and then used dtp with marmalade distress ink then I added brown around the edges.  The butterflies are mustard seed and forest moss. I heated them and bent them (you need asbestos hands) and YES YES YES I managed it . I was so chuffed the rest of the card just followed on from there really I inked up some paper for the topper and the base and added the grunge paste which I then inked when dry.  I used grey board for the stems (just cut some strips) and die cut some leaves.  The frame around the words are also from the stamp man which I have had a long time - before I got a die cutting machine.

This set me off - so tomorrow's post are tags--- watch this space!

Christening Day

Must be the season for Christenings as I have been asked for a Christening card for a Grandson and three cards to say thank you for being Godparents!

Here is the Christening card sorry the picture didn't come out particularly well but you get the drift.  I love this little stamp from LOTV I think its just perfect for Christenings as you can colour with either blue or pink!
I used promarkers to colour and cut out the image with a spellbinder die.  I used the same set of dies for te sentiment.  I also used an embossing folder (A4) I think its a spellbinder but couldn't swear to it.  It's a little trellis with small hearts at the intersections.  I used my promakers to colour a bit of lace and added a few pearls.

I was on a roll now so I made three of these 2 for godparants and one for a godmother.  Same recipe as above.

Maybe I should mention the sentiments?  I cut out the shape in pearly card and inked the edges.  I then used my laptop to create the words - printed on pearly paper and chucked on the embossing powder as it came out of the printer.  I then positioned the die over the words and cut it out and embossed . I then cut around the inner embossed line and mounted onto the pre cut and inked card shape

Happy Birthday to my baby girl

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANET
So it is my youngest Daughter's birthday today and I have sent her this card I posted it last week in the vain hope that she gets it in time.  She works in Gibraltar and lives just over the border in Spain.  I miss her terribly but YAY she is coming for a visit next month x

I just used weathered wood distress ink and I didn't have any card for the matting and layering so just did a bit of dtp around the edges so it all toned in.

Kevin's 60

Morning all - its Monday and I thought I would just blog this card I made for a commission

It is made for a Kevin who is going to be 60 he is into photography and walking !!

I have been n Serif again!! - not into digital crafting per se but it does come in useful.

I downloaded some boots, a camera and a map of the moors around Darwen.
I turned the map into sepia colours, cut out the boots and the camera  in the cut out studio from the background they were on.  I did the same thing with the boot prints and then using the stamp mode I "walked" them around the map.  I printed everything off, coloured in the boots with a pro marker.  the 60th in the camera lens and the words were cut out using dies. - the lady who commissioned it loves it phew!

Not his birthday yet so daren't put it on fb

Brayering with Linda - August

Craft Range workshop

Oh we had fun on the last workshop it was nearly full and we had  some new ladies who have also booked to come to my next one.  It was nice to see Jenny back from her holidays -Cindie brought her grand-daughter who was away with the brayer right away !
I wonder who else will be at the next one?

I thought I would just post the cards that we will be doing next time.  The blue one has some hills in the distance - more practice and the brown one starts life as white card   and the colour is changed with the brayer!  Lets see how you all get on with these challenges we will also make the flower

Sunday, 4 August 2013

Morning all I am up bright and early this morning  got lots to do and I want to watch Clarity on C & C . So I thought I would share one of the cards I sent in for my homework.

I decided t do a monochrome card  first stop gelli background.  I have a large gelli plate so I masked off part of it with a piece of plastic I cut to size to leave me an 8 x8 space.  and I lift it off before I take the print.  I used black, silver and pearl white paint, the trellis and the dotty wave stencil.
I then made the little scene on a separate card, matted on black and mounted on top of the gelli print.

ANIMALS

ANIMALS

Good Morning well haven't we had some lovely sunshine in July?  very fitting for our last challenge - yet again we had some fantastic entries - the standard is superb and the ideas you all keep coming up with are very clever.  Isn't it amazing how one title can mean something different to everyone an so I wonder what the entries for this month's challenge will bring I am sure there will be several that will make me think OMG thats clever why didn't I think of that .

So this months challenge is Animals - a toughie for me as I can't say that I am an animal person at all really and so we don't have any pets.  So what to do what to do what to do I thought and I thought and I thought ....................and then a friend gave me some old books she was getting rid of ( I had just done the handbag book and she thought I might be able to make use of them) ..so thank you Stella .
decided to hollow out the middle of the book - I have never done anything like this before and was a bit clueless as to how to do it - but you tube is a very useful source of information ha ha ha .After glueing the pages together and leaving over night to dry I started to cut ! I eventually got rid of all the middle oh what a mess time to get out the hoover so many little bits.
So I then set too and painted the whole thing - I used a bit of gesso to start with and then ovepainted with some white acrylic paint.  I then covered the outside , page edges and the inside of the hole with white tissue paper that I had "aged" with distress ink.  As the outside of the book wasn't the focal point I just stamped a frame and a tree
Now to tackle the inside oh dilemma dilemma - I couldn't really stamp straight onto the inside of the book so in the end I decided to make two sheets with some lovely smooth stamping card so I cut out the hole and put to one side.  I decided to go with a farm scene and keep it all in a brown colour to match the outside of the book.  I put the farm house and front yard in the hole and then the rest of the surrounding area is the farm? can you see what I see?   Anyway I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by would love to read what you think after all my efforts lol and I look forward to seeing all the amazing entries to the challenge
